What is Thermography?

JGC Seminars

Thermography is the observation, measurement and recording of heat and its flow.

All bodies on earth with a temperature above absolute zero (-273° C) emit thermal energy in the infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The amount of heat a body gives off is directly comparable to its temperature. Humans cannot see this radiation with the naked eye, but with the use of infrared cameras and thermography they can see the heat, notice anomalies, which in turn will lead them to identify problems.

To immediately grasp the concept of thermography, one can think of the following:

  • Photography is described as the “imaging of light”
  • Thermography is described as the “imaging of heat”

FLIR, a world leader in thermography technology, in partnership with our company and the international thermography training institute ITC (InfraredTrainingCenter) provides comprehensive seminar-level training and learning services in thermography and the use of thermal cameras. The seminars include both the acquisition of theoretical knowledge of the science of thermography, as well as technical knowledge and methods of using the thermal camera in the field depending on the application and the needs of each user.

The seminars have a duration of 2 or 3 days (Introduction to Thermography – Other thematic modules), or 5 days (Acquisition of ITC Level I Thermographer Certification), are held in Athens or Thessaloniki at regular intervals and are taught by certified instructors in Greek and English language!
