Elios 3 UT Payload
Secure remote thickness measurement
The UT Payload, developed in collaboration with Cygnus Instruments, turns the Elios 3 into a flying UTM gauge that can take accurate thickness measurements supported by high-resolution A-scans in the most difficult areas. Equipped with the Elios 3 UT, industry professionals can perform routine integrity inspections in minutes – reducing the chance of unplanned downtime.

UT measurements with location tags and Live 3D data tracking
The Elios 3 can host the UT Payload alongside the LiDAR, allowing measurements to be accurately located on a digital twin of your asset during data logging.
Combined with the Cockpit’s Asset Management software extension and Live Map widget, location-tagged UT readings provide excellent situational awareness, allowing you to easily monitor the completeness of your inspection.
Smart Couplant Distributor
The Elios 3 UT Payload features a remote-controlled couplant dispenser, with the probe ensuring that just the right amount of couplant is dispensed for perfect ultrasound transmission to the material under test. The operator can monitor the couplant level via the Cockpit and return for a quick refill or quick change of the dispenser syringe when the gel runs out.
The smartest detector arm ever built on a drone
- Multifaceted Orientation:
The Elios 3 UT Payload can be mounted above, in front of or below the drone and the probe arm can be configured to suit your needs, ensuring the adaptability and accessibility necessary to perform thickness measurements in a wide range of locations. - Non-stop navigation:
The probe arm is designed to fold onto the drone to pass through the narrowest manholes or navigate through the most complex spaces without interrupting flight. - Laser Targeting:
The UT Payload’s probe features a laser pointer for precise in-flight targeting so you can quickly get to the exact spot you want to measure.
Modular Probe Head
The Elios 3 UT Payload features a set of detectors that match the shape of various surfaces, as well as interchangeable dual crystal detectors with an option 2MHz, 5MHz or 7,5 MHz. The probes are particularly suitable for measuring heavily corroded metals and feature an Echo-Echo function to measure up to 1 mm (0.040 in) of surface coating.
Cleaning unit
The probe head can be replaced with a cleaning unit to remove sediments and prepare surfaces for measurement. Thanks to the location marking, the user can easily return to the cleaned location to perform the measurement with the sensor head attached.
Live A-Scan
Cockpit’s Live A-Scan widget provides operators with advanced measurement controls, allowing either fully automated or manual measurements using adjustable gain and gates. This flexibility allows users to improve measurements on the spot even in less than ideal conditions.
Measurements by Cygnus Instruments
The Elios 3 UT Payload has been developed in collaboration with Cygnus Instruments, a leading manufacturer of ultrasonic thickness gauges. Leveraging Cygnus’ 40 years of UT experience, the Elios 3 UT Payload meets the highest standards of accuracy, quality and reliability in thickness measurements.
Advanced data post-processing
- Navigate to points of interest:
All data points from your flights are displayed and located in a digital twin of your item, making it easy to navigate between points of interest. - Review and improve metrics:
During the analysis, the A-Scan is repositioned in the software, allowing you to verify the measurement or improve it by reselecting the most appropriate echo signals. - POI documents:
Data points can be documented by assigning them a criticality level and adding a description.
