Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Connecting the digital and physical worlds with Trimble solutions
For years, Trimble’s commercial portfolio has included proven equipment and software solutions that support the principles and guidelines set out in Greece’s National Strategy for BIM.
JGC informs you that, following an open consultation process, the National Strategy for Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been approved in our country.
The term BIM refers to the modeling of information for a technical project or construction. It is the most holistic and modern way of working for infrastructure projects, building works and construction, creating a 3D digital model that contains all of the project’s information. The adoption of BIM by all the engineering disciplines involved in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a project is expected to lead to more effective public works and better project management throughout their life cycle, as the main advantages of BIM are lower costs, fewer errors and risks, and greater effectiveness and efficiency in the project environment.
You can read the decision of the competent Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport.
According to the approved text, specific standards and norms will apply to all infrastructure and building projects in our country. The two-dimensional approach (plan and longitudinal section), in both design and construction, will be replaced by 3D BIM models. In addition, great importance and added value is given to each project by monitoring it throughout its lifetime through its digital twins.
